TOUR SOUTHERN AND EASTERN KENTUCKY HOSTS
SPRING WORKSHOP WORKSTUDY

Somerset, KY- TOUR Southern & Eastern Kentucky held their annual
Spring Work Study Workshop in Abingdon, VA March 27-29, 2007.
Almost 30 participants, tourism professionals and elected officials
from all over southern and eastern Kentucky were in attendance.
Abingdon
is not only the trailhead for the incredible Virginia Creeper Trail, a
trail system of 34.3 miles, traveling through several communities; it
has culture and history of its own. The attendees on this Work
Study Workshop learned about Abingdon’s rich history and how that
history has made itself a powerhouse in the town’s economy of today!
During
their stay in Abingdon, attendees experienced the bustling downtown,
unique restaurants, and discovered how the small town is able to
support a 4-Diamond hotel and spa, and well attended festivals.
Attendees were able to talk to local elected officials, cultural
marketing directors, festival directors and successful entrepreneurs,
as well as learn lessons in hospitality and motorcoarch services.
Abingdon is a town that is a must stop destination, a perfect place to
learn and get ideas to implement in our southern and eastern Kentucky
communities!
