The National Media Marketing Campaign is one of the many ways SEKTDA is working toward promoting Southern and Eastern Kentucky. This campaign includes hosting tours of professional journalists who visit the region and then report about their experiences.

As a result of these tours, hundreds of articles have been published in national publications such as:

Southern Living Country Living In Fisherman
Golf Digest Group Tour Boating World
Canoe and Kayak Paddler Country Home
Outside

Broadcast Include:

CNN WalMart's Great Outdoors Bassmasters
ESPN Outdoors Outdoor Life Network ATV Magazine TV

As of February 2006, over 801 articles and broadcast segments have been produced. This media coverage has reached over 252+ million potential visitors, with an ad equivalency of 11.8 million dollars and return on investment of 565%.

In addition, SEKTDA has also created press kits which provide valuable informational resources to journalists regarding SEKTDA, along with the history, culture, and outdoor recreational opportunities within the 46-county region.

Geiger and Associates, SEKTDA PR agency, has also worked on coordinating media development missions into major regional markets, developing press releases and developing driving tours (which have been modified into motorcoach itineraries), as well as developing and adding to a slide library for media use.

The national broadcast campaign was launched in 2002. To date some ten national broadcast programs (and several regional ones) have aired. Those shows which have aired have included shows produced by:

CNN WalMart's Great Outdoors ESPN Outdoors
Outdoor Life Network ATV Magazine TV
