SEKTDA HOSTS LAKE CUMBERLAND MEETING
Somerset,
KY- Southern and Eastern Kentucky Tourism Development Association
(SEKTDA) held a meeting on February 8, 2007 at The Center for Rural
Development concerning Lake Cumberland. The purpose of the meeting was
to inform marina owners, elected officials and concerned citizens
about the many options available to them when educating the public
about Lake Cumberland.
Vicki Kidd,
President/CEO of SEKTDA, facilitated the meeting. The speakers for the
meeting consisted of James Gray, Wolf Creek National Fish Hatchery;
John Williams, Kentucky Fish and Wildlife; Tom Hale, U.S. Army
Corps of Engineers; George
Ward, Secretary of Commerce; Cheryl Hatcher, Deputy Commissioner
Kentucky Department of Travel; and Richard Thomas, Executive Director
of PRIDE. All of the
panel members discussed the positive move toward keeping visitors
coming to Lake Cumberland and were available to answer questions.
Kidd reminded
participants about the free use of the 511 Tourism Information Call
Center and unveiled educational literature promoting Lake Cumberland.
This literature consisted of four television commercials, four
public service announcements, and four print ads free of use to anyone
who would like to use them.
